The site Virtagal was created by Mariposa, the name given by the artist Herbert Mast from Le Jardin (France) for his artistic work. He not only paints, but he also makes sites. His knowledge of automation dates back to the time he worked for a big energy company in Amsterdam.
He founded a computer club there, even before the PCs did his entrance and windows did not exist. In 2004 Herbert emigrated to France and Herbert exchanged his desk chair for a painter's easel.

The Virtagal site (Virtual Art Gallery) came alive after he created a gallery for an French artists association. On their site, he missed that. You could see artwork, but it was static and certainly not dynamic, interactive, ie it was not renewed or maintained. In his view, artists should post their artwork themselves on a site and providing information. For an exhibition in his home village, he has created a smartphone app and a catalog. He decided to share his knowledge and expertise with artists by making Virtagal.
